As some of you might know, today was my 20th birthday! Between all the exams the past week, I entered a competition of the famous fashion magazine Grazia to win a Fashion Bloggers Masterclass. I couldn’t believe it when I got an e-mail saying that I won! So today, on my birthday, I went to Amsterdam for a three-hour session full of blog related talk.
I was so exited and nervous at the same time. I haven’t visited Amsterdam that much so you can imagine finding the way was quite the adventure. I can’t be the only one, right? I arrived literally just on time at the Dylan Hotel. Together with the other winning girls and boys we could enjoy some drinks and treats. Meanwhile we had the chance to talk a little, which was great! It was such an amazing feeling standing between all this lovely people who loved blogging as much as I did.
The Masterclass itself began with Hilmar Mulder, editor of the Dutch Grazia, welcoming us. She looked stunning in a flowery, light-blue blouse! Anna from NSMBL.com (picture above) was the first to talk about her experience as a blogger after which Sabrina from AfterDRK.com (picture above Anna’s) shared her perspective on the matter. I won’t lie, their stories were beyond inspiring and I loved listening to them! They gave us so much tips and insight, it was really helpful. The Masterclass ended with Polle De Maagt. He taught us a bit more about image, the technical side and the importance of persistence. All together, I’ve learned many things about the blogging world. Hilmar had one last thing to share before we, sadly, had to go: the winners of the tickets for the Amsterdam Fashion Week, who got the unique opportunity to blog everything live. Guess who won!
Yes, I won. I couldn’t believe it, I feel so incredibly lucky. Together with these wonderful girls, Judith and Nicole, I’ll be blogging from third and fourth row on our Windows 8 devices. These are tablets we get to borrow for two weeks, they’re really cool! At the end of these two weeks one of us gets to keep their tablet. Grazia is the master in competinception: a competition in a competition in a competition. 😉 Although I think it has already been such a rewarding experience, I really hope I win this thing though. It’s awesome! In the end all bloggers got a goodie bag and Nicole, Judith and I got our tablets. Me, the other girls and some friends of Nicole (Marieke and Anouk) talked for a while before we headed home.
On my way to the Central Station I couldn’t resist to swing by LUSH where I bought the Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon (a bubblebar which smells like a tropical vacation, hmm) and the Space Girl bath bomb. Thanks to the sweet sales rep I got a little present too – thank you so much for that. And right now? I’m on the train home, working on my Windows 8 device. Today was definitely my best birthday ever! I’ve got my family and my boyfriend waiting for me at home and I can’t wait to share my wonderful experience with them. Thank you Grazia for this opportunity.
What did you guys do today? I hope it was as equally awesome as mine, really. Do enjoy your weekend, lovelies, and share your plans. 😉
