Saturday the 26th of january I went to Amsterdam Fashion Week with two co-bloggers, Judith en Nicole! We got the unique opportunity to blog live from third row. The eighteenth edition of the must-do event for Dutch fashionistas took place in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. It was amazing and here’s my fashion week inside report for you, I hope you enjoy it. 😉
The first show was from the American lingerie brand Maidenform! They were the first label ever to make appealing, feminine women’s underwear. The fashion show was amazing and let me tell you, this season’s collection is a real treat for the eye. Satin ribbons, cut-out gloves and transparent textiles graced the runway models who walked by in black high heels. The color palette was soft and included colors such as nudes and black, with one hot pink exception. I don’t mind, I like the softer colors more anyway. The barely noticeable latex belts felt like a playful wink at the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. The dark eye make-up of the models looks beautiful and fits right into the scene! It are little details like that, that give this fashion show a sexy twist. The woman who wears the “Art of Form” collection is confident, elegant and feminine! I definitely liked this show.
Our first fashion show was now history and with two hours left, we grabbed the opportunity to walk around a little more. Beside the cat walk there was so much more to see! It was an act itself to look at all the visitors, including many famous people such as Mascha from Beautygloss, Sebastiaan Labrie and Euvgania Parakhina from the So You Think You Can Dance jury. All these amazing outfits gave me such an inspiration boost! I can’t remember anymore how many times I’ve said to Nicole and Judith the sentence: “Guys, look at her, that looks amazing!”
These two spare hours were also the perfect chance to update Reporting for Beauty, which I did and you can find it here. The Windows 8 tablets we got to borrow are really such amazing devices – they’re light-weighted, handy in use and they grant quick access to everything. Yes, I’m in love! In the meantime, we and our puppy eyes arranged ourselves a seat to a third fashion show, one from Naza Ryzh. Her collection, “Rooted Heart”, was inspired by the bound one has with the place you come from. A really beautiful thought, isn’t it?

My absolute favorite was the last fashion show of the evening. Elise Kim, a young designer from Vietnam, is known for her love for texture which reflects clearly in her collections. Her newest designs were inspired by the bizarre images we sometimes see while sleeping. The results are beautiful: we see dreamy looks with edgy leather, feminine peplums and complimentary, transparent strokes of textile. The fashion models have gorgeous deep-blue eye make-up and loose curls. The colors red and cobalt blue ruled the catwalk, with the occasional take-over from black. Safe yet spot-on! Elise Kim’s dresses are daring, feminine and graceful. In the end she comes to say hi during the applause before she and her models disappear backstage.
When the lights come back on, it’s time for Nicole and me to catch to last train. Amazed by the Amsterdam International Fashion Week we leave for Amsterdam Station and I can’t wait to type down all my inspiration onto my tablet. Thank you so much Grazia and Windows for this amazing opportunity!
