Forget the Grammys, it’s my time to give out some awards! Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl is in the spotlight and is nominated for the following categories: most beautiful packaging, long-wearing, practicality of the tube and most complimenting pigmentation. What golden statuettes does it takes home?
Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl – €28
Girl Meets Pearl is a well-known liquid highlighter by Benefit that’s supposed to give you a gorgeous, Red Carpet-worthy dewy glow. By twisting the bottom, this gorgeous tube dispenses a golden-rose luminizer. It’s usually used as a highlighter but I’ve heard that some beauties like to blend it with their primer. Whatever your cup of tea is, Girl Meets Pearl challenges you to give it a whirl.
In my opinion, Girl Meets Pearl is the Leonardo Dicaprio of the Oscars. The highlighter’s always praised but somehow never raved about. I’m pretty sure I understand why. About the luminizer. Not Leonardo Dicarpio. Someone, for the love of God, give that man an Oscar.
The packaging is beautiful and although I think Benefit could’ve thought of a better way to dispense the liquid pearl, it certainly doesn’t bother me. Once applied and blended, it highlights your features with a beautiful rose golden color! The gold looks really pretty. Girl Meets Pearl is super long-lasting and light-weight.
A downside? I don’t feel like Girl Meets Pearl is a highlighter that compliments pale skin. I associate pale skin with silver and white highlighters (like the one from Etos) and bronze skin with yellow and golden highlighters (like NARS’ Albatross). This rose golden luminizer just doesn’t look right on my whiter-than-KISS skin. If it was summer and my skin was tanner, I’d probably give Girl Meets Pearl a standing ovation. For now, it’s just an incredibly gorgeous luminizer, perfect for summer looks!
Do you agree with my ‘silver highlighters compliment pale skin/golden highlighters compliment bronze skin’ statement? What are your thoughts?
