L’Occitane En Provence is a brand with a vibe I absolutely adore. I just love how true they stay to their values. They do their best to respect nature and tradition, stay authentic and create an environmental change. So when I received a L’Occitane En Provence gift bag as a present, I was pretty excited to discover all the little surprises inside. This beauty, the Youthful Body Velvet Balm, caught my eye right away!
L’Occitane’s Youthful Body Velvet Balm is a luxurious body cream made of the best products in the world. It’s a careful combination of the highest-quality almonds, imported from the South of France, fresh roses and shea butter. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? This golden recipe is designed to kick your skin’s dryness, irregularities, fine lines and lack of tonicity right out the door. And well, it’s definitely an amazing moisturizer. It hydrates your skin, leaving it with a smoothness worthy of the name velvet-like. I honestly can’t tell you if it’s helpful on the other fronts (irregularities, fine lines and toning) as I don’t really have those problems. However, it feels like it does much more than a regular moisturizer.
While it’s definitely a treat for your skin, I can’t figure out if I like the smell of the L’Occitane Velvet Balm. It’s certainly not a bad smell but the scent is a little plain. It reminds me of the classic Nivea-smell. I think I’d liked the aroma of almonds more! That would’ve been that little extra I miss right now. In spite of the amazing consistency, natural ingredients and the velvet-like feeling after applying, I’m not convinced. It’s a lovely product, it really is, but to me, it’s not worth the golden price tag.
