Sun is shining, lipstick is swee-heet! It’s time for a new Face of the Day and in honor of the many days of sunshine we’re having lately, I plunged into my lipstick stash and I picked out this pink beauty. It’s a matte lipstick by NYX and I think it looks adorable with a natural face and an outfit with soft colors. Be the judge yourself!
I start with moisturizing my face with the La Rouche-Posay Effaclar H multi-compensating soothing moisturizer. It’s my holy grail moisturizer and my number one recommendation for babes who struggle with the occasional breakout. You should try it! Next, I use a damp beauty blender to apply a bit of MAC’s Studio Sculpt Foundation (in NC20). Nothing bothers me as much as an abrupt foundation line so I blend my Studio Sculpt halfway down my neck. After this, I set my foundation with MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Pressed Powder in the medium shade. I’ve used this on-and-off for years and I still like it very much.
HIGHLIGHT & CONTOUR
The products I use for contouring my face are both from MAC Cosmetics. I swear I’m not sponsored. I use MAC’s Bronzing Powder to contour the bridge of my nose, my jaw line and the sides of my forehead. The next step is highlighting the face, brightening up my complexion. I love getting my glow going with my favorite highlighter, MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. I apply it on the center of my forehead, under the brow bone, on the apple of my cheeks, the tip of my nose, the cupid’s bow and my chin. Take a moment to admire your sparkle in the mirror. You a star, girl. You a star!
BROWS & LASHES
I comb my brow hairs into place (because sometimes they’re just cray cray, you feel me) and fill them in with Catrice’s Eyebrow Set. It’s a low-budget brow powder that works miracles. It’s super long-lasting and for me, it’s a perfect match with my real eyebrow color. If necessary, I sharpen the outlines of my brows with my Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil (in black). If my brows are on fleek, I apply Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara to my lashes. Just like my setting powder, I’ve used this mascara on-and-off for years. I admit that it’s no holy grail product but I do like the volume it gives my lashes.
Lastly, it’s time for the bow chicka wow wow-effect, the cherry on top, the lips! I outline my lips with the NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Peekaboo Neutral. Next, I color them in completely. The NYX Matte Lipstick in Summer Breeze is icing on the cake — and there you have the finished look.
I think a bright lipstick is the perfect way to celebrate the forthcoming spring. It also feels amazing to have a bit of color in my outfits and make-up looks again. Please don’t tell me I’m the only one whose winter wardrobe is dominated by black and gray pieces?! Color feels fresh. I feel fresh. I’ve never been so ready to leave the cold days behind me. Spring, you better come and slay!
